Designed for Life

Design at Five is an interior design practice based in Hitchin, Hertfordshire. The primary goal of Design at Five is to help you to love your home. It should be a place where you feel relaxed and calm, where all the big and little details have been considered to ensure it serves you both aesthetically and practically. I will guide you through the process of achieving this through my attainable packages and dedication to making the process straightforward and simple for you. I will take full consideration of your style goals and your current lifestyle to ensure I deliver a scheme which you love to return home to each day.

My packages and design ethos represent my desire to assist you to create a home you love even if your budget is tight. You can select from a whole room design or just a smaller part of the design jigsaw to get you up and running. We can look at what can be repositioned or repurposed before rushing out to buy new. You can also take advantage of my trade discounts to achieve the best price when purchasing new items from a wide range of different suppliers with different price points.

I would like the environment and sustainability to be a key consideration in the design process. I believe you are making a sustainable choice simply by appointing an interior designer. A carefully considered and expertly executed design will have longevity; avoiding costly and wasteful mistakes. We will work together to discover your design style and take care not to fall for fashions or fads which may change in a year or two’s time. When it comes to purchasing new items, many mainstream shops and suppliers offer eco-conscious lines these days so great interior design doesn’t have to cost the earth.

Caroline helped us with redesigning my daughter’s ’tween’ bedroom. It needed updating from her childhood pink girlie room into something that would carry her into her teenage years. We were restrained by an awkward shape, limited space and built-in cupboards and I had no idea how to approach modernising it. Caroline offered a great suggestion of changing the layout that really unlocked the room. She put together some really inspiring mood boards and we talked over various design ideas and paint trends. I’m so grateful to Caroline for her input into Eva’s room - she absolutely loves it and is proud to show it off to her friends  (I am also rather envious!); her approachable manner, good eye and realistic outlook would be a huge help to anyone looking for some help with interior design.

What my customers say…..

Working with Caroline was an absolute pleasure. She listened to the sort of vibe we were looking to create on our guest floor, and then brought ideas that both fitted the brief but equally challenged us. All of which fitted with our joint passion of being environmentally friendly and sustainable. We have ended up with two gorgeous guest bedrooms that we are tempted to sleep in all the time! She did everything from designs, to ordering furniture, to dressing the room. Looking forward to our next opportunity to work with her again.

Stuart & Katie

I was really struggling from both a time and design perspective to pull together the next steps for my lounge and bathroom. I had plenty of ideas but couldn’t narrow them down to a theme to move forward with. Caroline helped me to step back and took me through a step by step process to nail down what it was I really wanted and provide a structured approach to achieving it. I’m so happy with the outcome and really love my new rooms!
